STATE TREASURER SHANE OSBORN TRAVELS TO MINNESOTA TO GIVE PRESENTATION ON LTCSP
Lincoln, NE - Today, Nebraska State Treasurer Shane Osborn traveled to St. Paul, Minnesota to give a presentation on Nebraska’s Long-Term Care Savings Plan to a group of state legislators, health providers, aging consultants, and citizens.
“Other states are taking great interest in what Nebraska created with our Long-Term Care Savings Plan,” Osborn said. “And they should – Nebraska is the only state in the country to offer tax incentives to both save and pay for future long-term care expenses, including insurance premiums.”
“The Nebraska Long-Term Care Savings Plan represents smart public policy that promotes self-reliance and individual responsibility. Our success will engage other states in this issue and eventually they will begin to draft similar versions of this program for their own citizens. With other states on board we will then be in a position to appeal to lawmakers on Capitol Hill and push for federal tax benefits.”
Treasurer Osborn will also be meeting privately with members of the Health Policy Staff of both Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.
The seminar is sponsored by Ecumen, a non profit group specializing in senior housing, aging services, and long-term care consulting, the Citizens League, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, and the 2020 Conference (a bi-partisan group of 60 legislators).
