State Treasurer’s Office to Host Financial Conference for Nebraska High School Students

Lincoln, NE - On Tuesday, January 27, 2009, State Treasurer Shane Osborn will host a financial conference for Nebraska high school students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln student union.

The Future Financial Leaders of Nebraska Conference will feature an all-star cast of Nebraska business leaders who will educate the students about entrepreneurism, the ins-and-outs of managing a business, leadership, and community involvement.

“Having the opportunity to introduce a collection of bright, aspiring young students to some of the heavy-hitters in the Nebraska business community is a very exciting event,” Treasurer Osborn said. “I am very grateful to all of our speakers for finding the time in their busy schedules to speak to these kids.”

In order to attend, students had to first be nominated by their business teachers and counselors based on their academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, and desire to pursue a collegiate degree in a business related field.

Some of the speakers will include: Tom Townsend, CEO, Scooters; Erin Limas, CFO, Borsheim’s; Joe Hampton, CEO, Hampton Enterprises; Dr. Terry C. Sebora, Director of Entrepreneurial Programs at UNL; and Marty Hager, CEO, The Minnow Project.
